Dash In Convenience Stores Streamline Labor & Menu Roll Outs

Opened 24 hours a day, Dash In operates more than 50 locations throughout Maryland, Virginia and Delaware. As a growing c-store destination since 1979, Dash In needed a multi-functional oven that was not only ventless, but could help them execute their creative menu innovation strategies that helped them go viral across social media—including their famous “stackadilla.” They also needed an oven that could help them solve for widespread industry labor challenges beyond their control.
"Our employees love the technology that ChefLinc provides,” Barbara said. “They love knowing that they can call me anytime and I can change the setting on their oven. Even though I’m not available 24 hours a day, the technology makes it so they feel they are completely supported all the time.”
Making fresh bakery items is a staple to the c-store industry and with her Vector multi-cook ovens, Barbara said her sales in doughnuts and other bakery items went up drastically due to the ease of use that multi-cook ovens have provided her kitchens.
"What we love about the multi-cook oven is the opportunity to bring in new items,” Barbara said. “We can cook things that we could never cook before. We were never able to do fresh bakery. We do that now. We’re up doing better than ever in that category because we now bake fresh cookies and bake our croissants and biscuits."

With the use of Cheflinc, Barbara has also been able to streamline her process for launching new, creative limited time offers (LTOs).
“[Before we had Vector], we spent two weeks prior to every promo just updating ovens,” said Barbara Nova, Senior Director at Dash In. “Now, I’ll push everything out [using ChefLinc] and the ovens are updated in a matter of five minutes."
The small footprint of the Vector ovens and ability to operate completely ventless without a traditional ventilation hood has helped Dash In maximize their foodservice program space.
"We’re doing more business in less space,” Barbara said. “Being able to get the right equipment that allows us to have fewer people running the equipment and less space in the kitchen is really key."
